FAQ’s
Chanhassen Wellness Chiropractic knows there are difficult decisions when trying to decide which service will best suit your needs. We believe it’s important to be informed with what we can offer you. Here we have provided answers to our most frequently asked questions to assist you.
What do you treat?
Dr. Kennedy treats the body as a whole instead of just symptoms. When the body is treated as a whole and the underlying cause(s) is addressed, the body's symptoms go away. Often, the location where the pain is felt is not where the problem is located. Treating the body as a whole keeps us from chasing symptoms. Using his whole body approach, Dr. Kennedy has had success in treating: headaches and migraines, low back pain, neck pain, mid-back pain, disc herniation, food allergies, knee pain, shoulder pain, wrist pain, foot pain, hip pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, seasonal allergies, colic, constipation, incontinence and much more.
Are you similar to other Chiropractors?
Dr. Kennedy's chiropractic philosophy and treatment methods are very different from most other chiropractors. The majority of chiropractors only look to the spine to help their patients' health. This is a good start, however, Dr. Kennedy treats the entire body, so it will heal and repair itself. This allows the body to heal much faster so fewer chiropractic treatments are needed.
The biggest difference in chiropractic methods between Dr. Kennedy and other chiropractors is his use of Applied Kinesiology, also known as muscle testing, to get to the root of the problem. Muscle testing allows Dr. Kennedy to see how the patient's body is working and what exactly it needs to become healthier. He performs many of the same chiropractic adjustments as other chiropractors, but also does more adjustment.
What should I expect on with my first treatment?
Dr. Kennedy will take a patient history, give a preliminary exam and give the first chiropractic treatment. Dr. Kennedy will evaluate the majority of the muscles of the body in the body to see how well they are working. Following a chiropractic treatment, some people may feel sore because of the new ways the body is moving. The feeling is similar to soreness after a workout following long periods of inactivity. The reaction to a chiropractic treatment depends on the individual.
How long does a chiropractic appointment take?
The initial chiropractic exam and treatment takes one hour. After the initial treatment, all other chiropractic treatments will take around 20 minutes because the entire body is treated, not just the spine. The initial chiropractic exam is very comprehensive to ensure Dr. Kennedy assesses each patient's needs. The initial chiropractic exam includes orthopedic and muscle tests, reflex tests, and a spinal exam.
How often will I need to be treated?
Length of a chiropractic treatment program depends on the type of problem and the degree to which you are willing to change. If you are in an extreme amount of pain, you will need to be treated at least twice a week or more. Most chiropractic patients who have chronic pain are treated once a week to once every two to three weeks. When patients are out of pain, getting a chiropractic treatment once a month is enough to keep the body working in prime condition.
Do you take insurance?
Yes, we are in-network with all insurance companies which includes Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Medica, Preferred One, Health Partners, Medical Assistance, Medicare, Medicaid, Work Comp, Auto mobile insurance and many others. Minnesota is a non fault state, which means if you injured in an auto accident or at work, your chiropractic treatment is covered at 100% even if the accident was your fault.
Can children and infants be treated?
Yes, children respond well to chiropractic treatment. Children who do get chiropractic care are much healthier, get sick less, get over being sick faster and do better in sports, than those who do not. Infants can even be treated right after they are born. The chiropractic adjustments done for infants and babies, however, are not the same as those for adults. Chiropractic adjustments for babies use about the same amount of pressure as you can put on your eyelid when it is closed. Children generally respond to chiropractic treatment much faster than adults and need far less treatments.
